Watch out world, our AMAZING director is officially famous! Ms. Debbie was featured in a touching interview held by the SD Voyager Magazine.
Thank you Ms. Debbie for everything you have done for ABC Children’s Center!
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began working in the childcare field at age 18. I began my journey as a pre-k teacher in Florida. Over the last 24 years, I have worked with all ages. I have worked in schools in several states such as: California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
I always knew I wanted to be around children. My mother worked in the education field her whole career. She began as a teacher, progressed to principal, and later on became a professor. My father was a VP of 3 major corporations. Having both career influences, I truly got the best of both worlds. By being able to see both the education and business aspect of life, I believe it better prepared me to take my career to a management level. I grew to love the management side of childcare. This position allows me to enjoy the balance of the business aspect, but still being able to work with the children.
I am currently raising two teenage boys. I knew in my early twenties that I wanted to raise my boys, but still have a career. The path I chose made that possible. I was able to bring my children with me to work, where I knew only the best care would be provided. I was able to be a successful teacher and an amazing mother.
What I love most about being in this field is that you get the opportunity to watch these children develop, grow, and being their educational journey.
I am now the director at ABC Children’s Center at San Diego located in Rancho Bernardo. Being a director in not an easy position, but it truly has some of the most amazing memories.
